Friday’s injury report: Bosa returns to practice, listed as questionable for Sunday

Plenty of good news on the injury front for the 49ers

There was plenty of good news from San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan after Friday’s practice. Nick Bosa participated, which is a good sign. Robert Saleh said that he wanted to see Bosa practice before Sunday so he could play, so that is encouraging. Here is the injury report for Friday:

OUT

Jalen Hurd (back)
Trent Taylor (foot)
Tevin Coleman (ankle)

QUESTIONABLE

Nick Bosa (ankle)
Jimmie Ward (finger)

Shanahan hopes to get Coleman, Taylor, and Hurd back after the 49ers bye week, which is Week 4. That will be a big boost for the offense, getting three contributors back.

For now, the team only has two healthy running backs on the active roster. Shanahan said there hadn’t been a decision made on calling up Jeff Wilson Jr. yet. That will likely be made tomorrow. Shanahan said the best-case scenario for Coleman returning would be next week, but they can’t gauge that just yet. There’s no rush. Bring Coleman back when he is fully healthy, and let me use the bye to recover.

Jason Verrett is healthy and ready to go, per Shanahan. How much he plays and where is the next question we ask. You’re not taking Ahkello Witherspoon off the field, not after how he played last week. Verrett has exclusively worked outside, so it’ll be interesting to see how Saleh uses him if he does at all.

Bengals injury news

Questionable:

RB Joe Mixon
RB Trayveon Williams
S Clayton Fejedelem

Out:

WR AJ Green
LT Cordy Glenn

Though Mixon is listed as questionable, our friends at Cincy Jungle say he’ll play. The real news here is Glenn missing another game. That means Bosa and Dee Ford will go against the Bengals third-string tackle, Andre Smith. On the other side, they have Bobby Hart, who, like Smith, has been a castoff journeyman. If I were Bosa, I’d want to suit up for this one as well.
