Pat’s note: We’ll make this our afternoon game thread.
Welcome to Week 1 of the NFL season. The San Francisco 49ers will get going against the Cincinnati Bengals this morning and then we have some interesting afternoon games to watch.
So what’s everybody watching today? This is our “Non-49ers game-day thread” where we can talk about the action on Sunday. We’ll have these every Sunday with the schedules.
I may take a peek at the Arizona Cardinals-Baltimore Ravens game just to see how the Cardinals do against Lamar Jackson. Last week he was ridiculous, but I don’t know how that offense can go once they hit the midway point of the season.
Kansas City Chiefs go to Oakland to take on the Raiders and while that will probably be a blowout, I’d love to see a football game just for the sheer chaos of Oakland being 2-0. When you think of everything they’ve gone through, that would be an amazing week if they beat the Chiefs.
I’m also interested in the New Orlean Saints at Los Angeles Rams. Why this isn’t the Sunday Night Game or a Monday Night game I will never know. This game has prime time written all over it. It’s going to be fun to watch, but it’s also got the history from the 2018 season behind it. I understand the contracts the NFL has (they can’t swipe all the money games from Fox/CBS as I understand it), but this is just too huge to have on in the afternoon.
It’s Week 2, so things should be a bit less-sloppy. There will still be a bunch of penalties and botched plays since everyone is getting into their grove but next week should be when things get interesting.
