After Tevin Coleman went down, fans started clamoring for the 49ers to trade for Melvin Gordon. Then Joe Staley went down on Sunday and everyone started talking about Trent Williams. Now, Jalen Ramsey wants out of Jacksonville. Thank goodness that the Minkah Fitzpatrick stuff got sorted out, because choosing him means giving up on a rapidly developing Tarvarius Moore, the same way that Trent Willams means moving on from Staley, or Jalen Ramsey means losing a leader in Richard Sherman or hindering the development of Akhello Witherspoon. I must admit that Ramsey intrigues me because of what he brings to the field (I don’t really buy all that locker room cancer talk), but those trades just don’t make any sense to me for the reasons listed above. Staley and Sherman are eventually going to need to be replaced, but I truly believe that that should be done through the draft to avoid messing with the team’s chemistry. That camaraderie is part of what makes this team special.
In other news, Raheem Mostert was on Deion Sanders’ “You Ball, You Get the Call” on NFL Network where he introduced his son, Gunner. I don’t really care much for Sanders’ interviewing abilities, but it was great to see how happy Mostert was to be on there.
