Who will be active against Cleveland? Will Kyle Shanahan keep Jalen Hurd on the inactive list for a game or two and continue to play Kendrick Bourne or will he activate Hurd right away and list Bourne as inactive? I personally am hoping we activate Hurd because I think he is going to be a star and needs playing time to develop.
I must admit that I had never heard of Jalen Hurd when we drafted him. I also was not very impressed by the initial highlight video that was posted right after we drafted him. It was not until a month or two later that I really started looking into him and I was completely amazed by what I saw. His running back highlights were as good as any college running back I had ever seen. While his wide receiver highlights are not quite as good as his running back highlights, they are still quite impressive.
Add to that how well he took to the NFL during the preseason. In no way did the game look too big or too fast for him. It looked more like his combination of size, speed, and moves might be too big for most defensive backs. I really can’t wait to see what Shanahan is going to do with him.
I think the 49ers have the most talented group of young receivers in the league with George Kittle, Deebo Samuels, Dante Pettis and Jalen Hurd. Kyle Shanahan keeps talking about one of the three wide receivers stepping up and I personally think that player will be Jalen Hurd.
