We are just about to get into Week 5, and the San Francisco 49ers will head to their first primetime game of the year against the Cleveland Browns. Right now the 49ers are first place in the NFC with their undefeated record, and the schedule is about to get mighty difficult. It starts with the Browns but the oddsmakers are favoring the 49ers a bit.
The 49ers have opened as 3.5 point favorites against the Browns per BetOnline.ag. The line seems to be going up because Fooch’s Draft Kings Nation site had the 49ers as 3 point favorites earlier Sunday. I doubt there’s much more movement beyond that this week unless a significant injury was to be disclosed. I bet it goes up or down a half-point depending on which way the money rolls in as the week goes on, but not enough to necessitate a swing.
The game’s total points are set at 47.5. I’d be very surprised if this were a low scoring game after what we’ve seen from Kyle Shanahan’s offense and what the Browns are capable of when the offense is clicking. The 49ers could shut the Browns offense down, but I doubt it and expect things to get crazy in the fourth quarter. The Browns just have too much talent to be held under 14-20 points, and Jimmy Garoppolo’s release is too quick for that Browns defensive line to contain him all game. I’d be more than happy to take the points here, but I don’t gamble that much and having worked in a casino for over ten years, I know the house always wins.
We’ll be back later to talk more gambling as the week rolls on.
