Four former 49ers have signed/visited with other teams

Yes, Seattle has met with somebody.

It’s tough to understand the value of a player truly. As a fan, it was probably tough to watch the San Francisco 49ers release, Jeff Wilson, despite the talent ahead of him on the depth chart. Wilson ended up going unclaimed and landing on the 49ers practice squad.

During the past couple of days, four players that were on the Niners roster have either signed or visited with other teams. Former 2016 first-round pick Joshua Garnett visited the Seattle Seahawks. Garnett left without a deal, as far as I know, but as long as we’re all aware now that he’s no longer with the Niners, the next team Garnett suits up for he’ll remain fully healthy and never miss another snap. That’s how this works.

LB David Mayo, who signed as a free agent this past offseason, signed with the New York Giants on Monday. Mayo is expected to be a Special Teams contributor right away. There’s familiarity there, as the Giants general manager Dave Gettleman was with the Carolina Panthers from 2013-17 as the general manager as well, where Mayo used to play.

Najee Toran is on the New England Patriots practice squad. Finally, Jamell Garcia-Williams worked out for the Oakland Raiders on Tuesday morning. He’s expected to land on their practice squad.
