The San Francisco 49ers released their injury report ahead of their first regular-season game against Tampa Bay. The 49ers also announced their team captains for the 2019 season.
DeForest Buckner
Richard Sherman
George Kittle
Jimmy Garoppolo
Joe Staley
That’s no surprise. Here is the injury report:
OUT:
WR Jalen Hurd
WR Trent Taylor
DB Jimmie Ward
Tampa Bay
S Justin Evans (Achilles)
QB Blaine Gabbert (left shoulder)
Evans being out means that the Bucs will start a very green secondary. Look for San Francisco to attack them early and often.
Questionable
DE Nick Bosa (ankle)
C Weston Richburg (knee)
CB Jason Verrett (ankle)
CB K’Waun Williams (knee)
Tampa Bay
WR Mike Evans (illness)
Evans missed practice today due to illness. A bug has been going around, but Bruce Arians said it’s not going around the locker room at this point. Isolated cases. Guys who have caught it have recovered in 24 hours. Arians said that the hope is Evans’ status won’t be impacted for Sunday’s game. I say, take your time, Mike. Rest up. It’s a long season, and your team will need you. No need to risk it now.
The NFL did away with the “probable” designations. Dee Ford, Dante Pettis, and Staley were all full participants.
According to the NFL's transaction log, the 49ers reached an injury settlement with S Adrian Colbert and WR Nick Williams.

49ers catch a break?
Kyle Shanahan asked if there’s any way the Buccaneers could change their mind and switch to white jerseys before he answered that he is indeed surprised the home team opted for dark jerseys in the heat of Tampa for Week 1. The PR person said “no,” and Shanahan said he was surprised Tampa Bay elected to wear their dark jerseys. So the 49ers will wear white in the heat on Sunday.
