Greetings Faithful! We are back for week two of the college football season! We have some intriguing matchups today including a clash between #1 Clemson and #12 Texas A&M as well as #6 Texas hosting #9 LSU. This week will feature some of the most notable running backs around the nation. Let’s take a closer look at some 2020 draft-eligible running backs.
Travis Etienne, RB, #9, - Clemson
Height: 5’10” - Weight: 200 lbs.
#12 Texas A&M at #1 Clemson – 12:30 p.m. kickoff (PT) – ABC
Travis Etienne is an explosive, versatile, and elusive tailback in the Clemson rushing attack. Etienne’s ability to break and evade tackles, and continue to gain yards after initial contact has been consistent with Etienne throughout much of his college career. Etienne has incredible leg drive and forward motion. He can drive the ball beyond the edge and find holes along the offensive line. Something Etienne will look to improve upon this season is his ability as a receiver. Should he become more of a complete pass catcher, then he will be a no-doubt first-round lock in 2020.
Jonathan Taylor, RB, #23 – Wisconsin
Height: 5”11 – Weight: 219 lbs.
Central Michigan at #17 Wisconsin – 12:30 p.m. kickoff (PT) – Big Ten Network
Jonathan Taylor has had a successful collegiate career thus far. He set a positive tone in the opening week with three touchdown scores alone in the first half. Taylor has the capabilities, frame, and makeup to be a three-down, pro-ready bruiser at the next level. Hus legs constantly churn, and his contact and power balance allows Taylor to push for additional yardage after initial contact. Taylor has patience and vision along the line, with careful ball security. Durability and injury concerns are going to be monitored, and along with Etienne, an improvement as a pass-catcher will move Taylor’s draft stock upwards.
D’Andre Swift, RB, #7 – Georgia
Height: 5’9” – Weight: 219 lbs.
Murray State at #3 Georgia – 1:00 p.m. kickoff (PT) – ESPN2
D’Andre Swift just might be the most elusive running back in the nation. He has outstanding vision and constantly makes the defender miss in open space. Swift consistently finds the creases and holes along the offensive line, and often slips through, and earns additional yardage after the initial contact. Has outstanding straight-line speed in the open field and will turn on the burners the more the plays extends. This season we will see Swift in more of a workhorse role, and should he continue to raise his game and play at an elite level, then he could be the next Georgia Bulldog running back to hear his name called on the first night of the 2020 NFL Draft.
