The San Francisco 49ers are heading into the second quarter of their game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but they will be doing it without linebacker Kwon Alexander.
After a lane opened up for Bucs quarterback Jameis Winston, Winston took off and Alexander dove for him on the slide. The replay show Alexander went head first. The 49ers were flagged 15-yards for the hit and Alexander was ejected from the game.
While we can cry holding on the defensive line during the play, these are the types of hits the NFL is trying to squelch from the league and on all angles, it’s a bad hit. The call had to be made.
The 49ers did get a sack on the very next play, but for the remainder of the game, they will be without Alexander.
