The San Francisco 49ers today announced they had activated LB Kwon Alexander from the Injured Reserve List. To make room on the roster, the team placed DLKentavius Street on the Injured Reserve List.
Alexander (6-1, 227) started each of the team’s first eight games of the season and registered 34 tackles, four passes defended, one interception, one forced fumble, and 0.5 sack. He was placed on the Injured Reserve List on November 5, 2019.
Street (6-2, 287) was activated to the active roster from the Injured Reserve List on December 14, 2019, appeared in three games and tallied four tackles. It was a disappointing season for Street as he couldn’t get healthy. This could be a sign that Dee Ford is good to go as well.
We’re not sure how much Alexander will play, but considering the Vikings live in 12 personnel, he could see extended action. Either way, from a morale standpoint, having Alexander on the field is enormous. Here is Kyle Shanahan on Alexander:
“I know Kwon will fly around. He’ll hit. He’ll be energetic. He’ll get everyone going. I think everyone will feel his energy on the field. And we’ll see how it goes. We’re not going to throw him out there, just down-in and down-out. But we don’t have a plan, where it’s only going to be ‘this’ amount.”
