The San Francisco 49ers took the practice field for the first time as they officially prepare for the Kansas City Chiefs. The real news is the team kicked practice off by listening to Will Smith’s “Miami” as they stretched. Running back Tevin Coleman was running along the side of practice. By all accounts, Coleman looks fine and will be available for the Super Bowl in ten days. Dante Pettis wasn’t at practice. The team said it was due to an illness. San Francisco is going to be cautious with anyone dealing with the flu to avoid it spreading. The Packers dealt with the same issue last week leading up to the NFC Championship.

Jaquiski Tartt and Kwon Alexander practiced in blue, non-contact jerseys. Defensive coordinator Robert Saleh said that Alexander is getting more and more healthy, and come game-time he should be even healthier, which could lead to a bigger role. Alexander only played 20 snaps against the Packers, and most of them came as the SAM linebacker, a role that isn’t Alexander’s strength. Dee Ford was in uniform and practicing.

Speaking of illnesses, the Chiefs had two players that were sick on Wednesday. Tight end Travis Kelce and safety Jordan Lucas were sick and didn’t practice. Wide receiver Demarcus Robinson, who is more or less their version of Kendrick Bourne, also didn’t practice on Wednesday with an illness but returned Thursday.

The media asked defensive tackle, Chris Jones if he would be able to play a full game on Super Bowl Sunday, to which he replied, “1000 percent.” Jones had been dealing with a calf injury that made him a game-time decision against the Titans in the AFC Championship. He was limited to 25 snaps during the game — Twenty-One of those pass-rush snaps. The bye week will be beneficial for both teams.

Here is the 49ers practice report:

DNP: RB Tevin Coleman (shoulder), WR Dante Pettis (illness)
LB Kwon Alexander (pectoral)
DL Dee Ford (quadricep, hamstring)
S Jaquiski Tartt (ribs)

Full: LB Dre Greenlaw (ankle)
