Golden Nuggets: Is AJ Brown better than Deebo Samuel

San Francisco 49ers links for Friday January 3, 2020

NFL: San Francisco 49ers at Seattle Seahawks Steven Bisig-USA TODAY Sports

I personally had AJ Brown over Deebo Samuel in the draft but I was not even the slightest bit unhappy when the 49ers took Deebo. All I wanted was a guy that had a little ballast, one that was not afraid to go over the middle and could throw a downfield block. A wide receiver that did not get pushed around or injured every time someone looked at him wrong.

Like I said, I am very happy with Deebo Samuel. I am more than happy with his 57 receptions for 802 yards and three touchdowns. His 159 yards rushing with three more touchdowns on the ground is icing on the cake. His downfield blocking is kind of good too and he was second in the league in yards after catch.

Meanwhile AJ Brown had 52 receptions for 1051 yards with eight touchdowns. He led the league in yards after catch. He only had 60 yards rushing with 1 touchdown though.

That is some great numbers by both rookie wide receivers. A lot of people seem to think both wide receivers went into the systems that best fit their style of play, I really don’t know. I am happy to have either one.

Oh wait! Did I forget the “s” in Samuels?

In other news, I was one of the few people on NN that did not hate Pete Carroll. “Was” is quickly becoming a key word in that statement.
