The San Francisco 49ers released their inactives ahead of their matchup between the Miami Dolphins. Ahkello Witherspoon is active, which is good news and means the 49ers will have two competent cornerbacks against a Miami offense that has weapons on the perimeter. Witherspoon had been battling a hamstring injury the past couple of weeks.

The big surprise is Kevin White being active and Dante Pettis being a healthy scratch. Pettis’s days have to be numbered. The front office has to be working out some sort of trade for him, right? On the one hand, you’re not going to let a talent like Pettis walk for free. On the other, he has done a whole lot of nothing since his rookie season, and even that was in less than a half-season. My take is that Kyle Shanahan thought he was drafting Pettis, the punt returner from Washington, who was difficult to bring down. The 49ers rarely saw that version of Pettis. Could White be a vertical threat? That’s something the team is still looking for.

As expected, Jimmy Garoppolo, Raheem Mostert, and Deebo Samuel are all active. That’s a significant boost for the offense. On defense, Dre Greenlaw is active after missing the past few games. Greenlaw’s value showed as Azeez Al-Shaair made mistakes that Greenlaw hadn’t while he was on the field.

C.J. Beathard is active, while Nick Mullens is inactive. Here are the inactives for the 49ers today:

QB Nick Mullens

CB Emmanuel Moseley (concussion)

CB Dontae Johnson (groin)

WR Dante Pettis

G Tom Compton

TE Daniel Helm
