The San Francisco 49ers are 2-3 after playing the easiest part of their 2020 NFL regular season schedule. It didn’t take long for the warning signs to appear. The Niners looked terrible in a Week 1 loss to the Arizona Cardinals, which saw the team lose All-Pros Richard Sherman and George Kittle to injuries. Then, everything came apart the following week against the New York Jets.

San Francisco lost Nick Bosa and Solomon Thomas for the season. Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, as well as running backs Raheem Mostert and Tevin Coleman, also left the game with injuries.

Sure, the 49ers beat an awful New York Giants squad in Week 3, but the last two performances have been abysmal. The Niners looked lost and undisciplined in losses to the Philadelphia Eagles and Miami Dolphins.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan was visibly upset after the loss to Miami, while Kittle and Garoppolo couldn’t hide their frustrations because the team is 2-3 going into a brutal seven-game stretch of its schedule. The fans are worried and angry too.

The season is far from over, but if the first five games are any indication, San Francisco will be lucky to win eight games with a roster that is missing a ton of high-end talent on the defensive side of the ball.

This year has sucked for more reasons than one, and the hope for The Faithful was that the 49ers would be a bright spot, which they clearly haven’t been.
