As the 49ers teeter on the brink of a lost season, Levin and I wanted to do something different that just complain about the offensive line and the Brian Allen debacle - again. So, we decided to take a step back and examine how we felt about the the team’s triumvirate: Kyle Shanahan, Robert Saleh, and John Lynch.
I have defended Kyle Shanahan since before he was the 49ers’ head coach. I never understood why he got so much blame for the Falcons’ Super Bowl loss, and I defended him when the 49ers started 10-22. After some of the decisions I’ve seen this season, however, I understand why people are at least wondering if Kyle is one of those guys that’s a better offensive coordinator than a head coach.
For the record, I’m not ready to say that just yet, but I do find the repeated departure from the running game disturbing, and I think he could do a better job of altering his game plan once the game actually begins.
How do you feel about the job Kyle has done so far this season? Levin offered his grade in the podcast, and, uh, he wasn’t kind. What say you?
