The San Francisco 49ers’ return game should get a boost when they take on the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday Night Football. The Niners announced that they have activated Richie James from the injured reserve list.

James hasn’t played since the Week 1 loss to the Arizona Cardinals. The 25-year-old has been San Francisco’s primary return man, averaging 23.4 yards on kick returns since being drafted in 2018.

The 49ers also activated two players from their practice squad. Defensive lineman Darrion Daniels will suit up against the Rams. The undrafted rookie free agent has been with the team since early September. Daniels started 11 games for the University of Nebraska in 2019, earning Honorable Mention All-Big Ten honors. He finished last season with 34 tackles (four for a loss), 1.5 sacks and a pick. Daniels will wear No. 65.

Wide receiver Kevin White will also be in uniform for the second straight week. The 28-year-old played two offensive snaps in the loss to the Miami Dolphins. White reverted back to the practice squad earlier in the week before being recalled. This is his fifth year in the league after being selected 7th overall by the Chicago Bears in the 2015 NFL Draft. White will be wearing No. 14 again against Los Angeles.
