The San Francisco 49ers are back in primetime when they take on the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday Night Football. The Niners come into the matchup against their NFC West rivals winless at home in three tries.

San Francisco’s banged-up secondary will get some help with the return of cornerback Emmanuel Moseley. Richard Sherman was supposed to return, but he is still dealing with some issues with his calf injury.

The Rams are off to a fast start at 4-1 and have arguably the NFL’s best defensive player in Aaron Donald. The 49ers’ offensive line is struggling this season, ranking 29th in adjusted sack rate, while Los Angeles is tied for the most sacks in the league through five games.

Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo needs to bounce back from an ugly outing against the Miami Dolphins last week. The good news is that Jimmy G wasn’t limited in practice this week, so hopefully the ankle won’t give him any issues in this game.

This a massive game for the Niners. If things go sideways over the next few weeks, this will be a lost season for San Francisco. If — and as of right now, it’s a big if — the 49ers hope to battle for a playoff spot, they need to turn things around in a hurry.
