In Game of Thrones, the North remembers. For 49ers fans, we remember what once was with Aldon Smith. We remember the 42 sacks in his first 43 career games. We remember the fumble recovery against the Falcons in the NFC Championship game. And we remember the strip-sack-fumble recovery on the first play of the NFC Championship game the following year against the Seahawks.
Now that Smith is on the long road of straightening out his life off the field, it also looks like that player we remember on the field has returned for the Cowboys this season. Smith is tied for 12th in the league in sacks right now with four, and has been consistently pressuring quarterbacks all year long.
After yet another loss, Dallas has two wins on the season, and they’ll be without Dak Prescott for the rest of 2020. Amazingly, they still lead the worst division in the NFL by half a game.
Would Jerry Jones be willing to admit defeat and part with Aldon Smith for the right price?
Kyle Posey and Akash Anavarathan discussed that and more in a huge episode of The Shanaplan this week:
- What is the impact of the Raheem Mostert and Ben Garland injuries
- Studs and Duds of Week 6 vs. Rams
- Trade deadline preview
- Will we see fans in the stands this year?
- What to expect this week vs. the Patriots
