For the third day in a row, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo and Raheem Mostert practiced. For the second day in a row, Deebo Samuel missed practice with an illness. Head coach Kyle Shanahan said that Samuel was on Zoom on Friday, and he’s “feeling great” and didn’t show any side effects or signs of sickness. Samuel was sick, but he passed two COVID tests. Samuel must pass one more in order to return to the facility and be able to play on Sunday. It’s important to make a distinction that Samuel’s illness is non-COVID. This year, anyone who is sick/has symptoms is not allowed in the building. Both he and Mostert are going to be listed as questionable against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday.
Shanahan announced that C.J. Beathard would be the backup quarterback on Sunday, and the team will likely only have two quarterbacks active. He explained that Nick Mullens didn’t have his best game, but his performance wasn’t as bad as it looked.
No Dre Greenlaw on the injury report. Shanahan said he’s full-go, and the team missed his knack for making plays. Agreed, Kyle.
Here is the final injury report:
Shanahan said the 49ers would make at least one move as far as bringing up from the practice squad/signing a defensive back ahead of Sunday’s game.
