Did you ever have your significant other tell you what a great person you are, and how attractive you are, and how you’re doing everything right - and then break up with you? That’s essentially what the 49ers did with DeForest Buckner last offseason, and he’s finally sharing his feelings about the situation.
“I was hoping the 49ers would at least meet me in the middle,” Buckner told The Athletic, “I definitely didn’t expect them to trade me. I poured my heart and soul into that organization… To go from 2-14 my first year to build a culture and get to a Super Bowl? You just don’t expect to be traded.”
Is it surprising that Buckner feels a little jilted after what happened? Not at all. How did you feel after you got dumped? That said, he’s not exactly looking back at the situation objectively.
In the latest episode of Stats & Eggs, I dive into that topic as well as what we hope to hear from Kyle Shanahan later today about the health of Raheem Mostert, Deebo Samuel, and Richard Sherman.
