The San Francisco 49ers held a Thanksgiving practice ahead of their Week 12 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams. Head coach Kyle Shanahan didn’t speak to media because of the holiday, but the team did provide some updates on the injury front.
Fresh off the reserve/COVID-19 list, Arik Armstead joined Deebo Samuel and Tevin Coleman as limited participants during Thursday’s session. Armstead should be good to go on Sunday, while Shanahan said he’s hopeful that Samuel and Coleman will play against the Rams during his most recent media availability.
Center Hroniss Grasu was a full participant after being activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list. There are still seven players on the list going into the weekend, including Trent Williams, Javon Kinlaw. Brandon Aiyuk, D.J. Jones, Joe Walker, Joe Williams and Daniel Helm.
The 49ers also had five players sit out Thursday’s session. Jordan Reed, Dre Greenlaw and Azeez Al-Shaair all missed practice with an undisclosed illness which is not COVID related, according to The Athletic’s Matt Barrows. Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles (hamstring) and K’Waun Williams (ankle) are also sidelined.
The good news for San Francisco is that Samuel, Coleman, Richard Sherman and Raheem Mostert are on track to play against L.A. If the Niners can get Williams, Aiyuk, Kinlaw, Jones and Greenlaw back in the lineup for Sunday’s tilt, it will be the most healthy the 49ers have been since the last time the two NFC West rivals faced off in Week 6.
