Kendrick Bourne’s agent says he’s not feeling any symptoms; 49ers issue a statement

The 49ers issued a statement after reports came out that wide receiver Kendrick Bourne tested positive for COVID:

“The San Francisco 49ers were informed today that a player has tested positive for COVID-19, and the individual immediately went into self-quarantine. Our organization has entered the NFL’s intensive protocol, and we are working with the league on contact tracing to identify high-risk individuals. All team functions will be conducted virtually today.

The health and safety of our players, staff, and community are the organization’s highest priority. We will continue to work closely with the NFL and medical professionals and will follow their direction.”

NBC Sports Matt Maiocco tweeted that he spoke to Bourne’s agent:

“I just got off the phone with Kendrick this morning. He is extremely sad but taking this very seriously and isolating himself in the house.” Bourne is not feeling any symptoms, his agent said.

If the game remains as scheduled for Thursday, the 49ers won’t have a single offensive player who touched the ball in the NFC Championship game on the field. The status for Richie James is in question, while seventh-round draft pick Jauan Jennings is currently on the practice squad IR. We could be looking at a Brandon Aiyuk-Trent Taylor-River Cracraft-Kevin White receiver combo, baby! All while Nick Mullens is slinging it.

What a turn of events.

Above all, hopefully, Bourne has a speedy recovery, and there are no outbreaks.
