As you probably know by now, Kyle Juszczyk, Trent Williams, and Fred Warner made the Pro Bowl. Congratulations to them, the honor is well-earned for all three men. Each of said men, by the way, is also due to earn a new contract this offseason. Warner will finally be eligible for a new deal and Williams and Juszczyk are unrestricted free agents. Warner and Williams will both get a big check from John Lynch this summer, but what about Juice?
When Kyle signed a four year, $21 million deal with the team, it was met with ridicule. They said the 49ers were a dysfunctional team with a broadcaster for a GM that didn’t know his arse from a hole in the ground. Fast-forward to 2020 and Juice has made the Pro Bowl every year he’s been a 49er while proving to be one of the most versatile pieces of the offense.
(By the way, we honor Juice and the other two Pro Bowlers in today’s Stats & Eggs Podcast)
Despite his consistently good performance, however, I’m not sure Juszczyk will be around next year. The 49ers of four years ago had oodles of money to spend. The Niners of today, not so much. It’s quite possible that another creative offensive mind will try and lure Juszczyk away with more money than San Francisco can afford to offer. In the past, I have likened having a such a good fullback to first class plane tickets. If you’ve got the money, great, but otherwise they’re the first thing to go.
How do you feel about the team’s Pro Bowl fullback?
