The San Francisco 49ers are keeping the moves coming, as they announced the signing of running back Tyler Gaffney to the practice squad.

Gaffney is a semi-local signing, as he played his college football at Stanford, where he was second-team All-Pac 12 as a senior. The 29-year-old 6’0” 220-pounder was a sixth-round pick in 2014, and has spent time on the Carolina Panthers, New England Patriots, and Jacksonville Jaguars rosters.
In 49 games and 14 starts at Stanford, Gaffney had 486 carries for 2,500 yards and 33 touchdown, as well as 32 receptions for 264 yards and four touchdowns.
Signing a practice squad journeyman to the practice squad isn’t quite as big of a move as the one the Niners made earlier in the day, when they signed former first-round quarterback Josh Rosen, but they can’t all be big moves.
Busy day for San Francisco nonetheless.
Welcome back to the Bay, Tyler.
