Third-string quarterback C.J. Beathard will make his first start in more than two years when the San Francisco 49ers take on the Arizona Cardinals in Week 16 of the 2020 NFL regular season.

The Niners are struggling, losing six out of their last seven contests to fall to 5-9 and were eliminated from playoff contention after last week’s defeat against the Dallas Cowboys. San Francisco’s offense will get some much-needed help with the return of superstar tight end George Kittle.

Arizona is going the opposite way of San Francisco. The 8-6 Cardinals have won their past two games and are in sole possession of the seventh and final playoff spot in the NFC.

This is the second meeting of 2020 between the two teams. Arizona beat San Francisco 24-20 in Week 1 of the season.
