NBC Sports Matt Maiocco tweeted a screenshot from the 2020 NFL Record and Factbook, which showed the San Francisco 49ers opponents for the 2021 season. According to the screenshot, San Francisco plays the Bears, Lions, Jaguars, and Titans at home. They’ll play the Packers, Vikings, Texans, and Colts on the road. Then they’ll have a game at home against an NFC South opponent and on the road against an NFC East opponent, as will the rest of the NFC West.

ESPN’s Nick Wagoner responded to Maiocco, saying that the Niners' home and away schedule is reversed. If that’s true, that would mean Green Bay travels to the Bay Area for the third year in a row. The 49ers played the Colts on the road four years ago, making sense for San Francisco to host Indianapolis this time around. The same with the Jags and the Texans, since out=of-conference games alternate locations.

The website I’ve always referred to is FB Schedules, which hasn’t let me down yet. They had the correct schedule last year, and here’s what they have for the 49ers schedule next year:

I imagine there was an error from where Matt got his info if FB Schedules and Wagoner have different information. We won’t find out officially until the schedule releases in early spring of 2021.

At least we know who the 49ers play, and a last-place schedule should be beneficial for the Niners next season. San Francisco will likely play three teams with rookie quarterbacks in the Lions, Jags, and Bears. Per Albert Breer, the Bengals would be the Niners' 17th opponent.
