Kyle Shanahan is known for being one of the most open and honest coaches when it comes to talking to the media. Rather than trying to get through the press conference without divulging a single nugget of information about anyone or anything related to the team, Kyle is usually pretty transparent about what’s going on with the squad.

That is why I’m particularly excited about something he said yesterday when he was asked about the return of Brandon Aiyuk to the lineup with Deebo Samuel and Raheem Mostert.

“I definitely know those guys. We’ve got some young guys who I know are going to only get better, that we got the right guys and stuff...It’s a matter of time. Kind of been hoping that all year, and we’re getting here, we’ve got five left in the scheduled season and I’m really glad that we got them both out now.”

When he says, “it’s only a matter of time,” that tells me that Kyle thinks Brandon Aiyuk is going to be really, really good. Combine that with the flashes that we’ve seen from BA when he has been out on the field and we could be in for some real fireworks down the stretch of the season.

For more of the best bites from Kyle’s presser as well as an aspect of the team that Steve Young says they don’t get enough credit for, check out today’s Stats & Eggs podcast. Get up to speed in less time than it will take you to finish your morning coffee.
