San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan met with the media ahead of Wednesday’s practice to discuss a few injury updates. Deebo Samuel will miss Wednesday’s practice with a foot contusion. Kyle Shanahan said Deebo took a knee to his foot and is still sore. If this were a regular “Wednesday” practice, then Shanahan said Samuel would’ve been good to go. Since today is a “Tuesday,” the team is playing it safe.
The team received good news on D.J. Jones. He doesn’t have a high-ankle sprain, and Jones will return this season. Shanahan said Jones’s injury is considered day-to-day. Emmanuel Moseley is still out with a hamstring injury, while Kevin Givens won’t practice on Wednesday for personal reasons. K’Waun Williams is still out with an ankle injury.
Tom Compton is in the concussion protocol. Here is the injury report for Wednesday. The following players won’t practice:
G Tom Compton (concussion)
WR Deebo Samuel (foot)
DT D.J. Jones (ankle)
CB Emmanuel Moseley (hamstring)
CB K’Waun Williams (ankle)
As the media continues to ask the players if they’ve gotten situated, as it’s been a week now since the team has been in Arizona, the players continue to explain shrug off any excuse that’s made for them. Fred Warner said, “If you allow the circumstance to dictate your performance, then you’re in a lot of trouble.” Nick Mullens was asked how difficult it is to be away from his wife and kid, and Mullens said he’s used to being away from them for six weeks every training camp.
If the 49ers lose, it’s not because they’re playing in Arizona.
