I saw a tweet on Friday abut Green Bay Packers wide receiver Allen Lazard talking about the San Francisco 49ers. I wasn’t sure if we should talk about it because it may seem like “rubbing it in,” but I think it’s a good reminder that the Niners beat up on a lot of teams this year, both good and bad. The Packers have been vocal about what the 49ers did to them in the NFC Championship. Edge rusher Za’Darius Smith had this to say on radio row during Super Bowl week:
“We didn’t come ready to play. I don’t know if everybody was sleeping, but I can tell you for myself that I wasn’t ready to play either. . . . We weren’t ready to play football.”
Smith wasn’t the only teammate to speak out. Lazard still isn’t ready to talk about the loss:
“I’m still kind of salty about it. A lot of us really had it set in stone that we were going to Miami, so kind of just being able to swallow that pill after the game and just realizing the season’s over and we’re not going to be able to achieve our goal was really hard. But I just think that’s something that adds more fuel to the fire and just adds a chip to our shoulder going into next year.”
Nothing will top a Super Bowl loss, and when you’re out and about and see a Chiefs commercial on the screen, you’re not the only one that gets nauseous. Thirty other teams didn’t make it as far as the Niners did.
In other news, Marquise Goodwin had a healthy baby on Saturday. Congrats to him and his family!
