Kyle’s update: Amari Cooper re-signs with Dallas for $100 million. The 49ers “sniffed around” on Cooper, I was told. As you can see, he was out of their price range.
Kyle’s update: If you wanted Stefon Diggs, kiss that goodbye. He’s a Bill. Buffalo sent a first, fifth, and sixth, as well as a fourth in 2021 fo Diggs.
Kyle’s update 11:30: The Ravens traded TE Hayden Hurst to the Falcons for a second-round pick.
Kyle’s update 10:45: Teddy Bridgewater is a Chicago Bear
Kyle’s update 10:30: The Cardinals have traded for Nuk Hopkins. Site decorum.
Kyle’s update 9:45: The 49ers made a run at TE Austin Hooper, per Mike Silver. Shanahan looking to do what the Patriots did at the beginning of the last decade?
Kyle’s update: A deal with Armstead should be happening any time now:
New deal is expected very very soon for 49ers and Arik Armstead per source.

Source close to the #49ers reports that Arik Armstead was willing to discuss less money for a multi year deal to stay with the team.

We have officially reached the “legal tampering period” where players can begin to negotiate with teams. The following San Francisco 49ers are unrestricted free agents:
A.Armstead
E.Sanders
Jimmie Ward
Ronald Blair
Sheldon Day
Levine Toilolo
Ben Garland
Shon Coleman
Damontre Moore
Jordan Matthews
Dontae Johnson
Jason Verrett
Anthony Zettel
As of Sunday evening, the team was working on a long-term extension for Armstead, but no deal has been finalized. Still no word on what happens with Jimmie Ward. It sounds as if the 49ers are going to let him test the market, hope it’s soft, and welcome him back at their price. Matt Maiocco echoed similar statements regarding wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders.
“The 49ers are closely monitoring Emmanuel Sanders to see what the market dictates for him. They want him back. But it has to be a cap-wise deal.”
Maiocco had a good point on how the Niners have an advantage with Ward.
It’s been quiet on the 49ers front so far. Here is a look at what has happened around the NFL Monday morning:
- Patriots franchise tag OG Joe Thuney. Ian Rapoport suggests the Jets may be interested in trading for Thuney
- Cardinals placed the transition tag on RB Kenyan Drake. That means if Arizona loses Drake, they don’t get any compensation for him.
- Vikings QB Kirk Cousins received a new deal where he will earn $61 million guaranteed. There is another rumor for 2021 squashed.
- Washington OL Ereck Flowers wants $10 million a season. Apparently, he’s good as a guard?
- The Packers signed RT Ricky Wagner, who played for the Lions recently.
These players have been franchise tagged:
