We all have our favorite draft crushes for the San Francisco 49ers. I’m fascinated by Baylor’s wide receiver Denzel Mims, but there’s no question Alabama’s Jerry Jeudy is tailor-made for Kyle Shanahan’s offense. Reading the comments gives you a good idea, just how split everyone is. Some prefer Oklahoma’s Ceedee Lamb, while others feel Bama’s other wideout, Henry Ruggs, is the key to unlocking the 49ers offense.
Receiver is easy to talk about, as we can all see someone run and catch. There are plenty of fans out there that would prefer an offensive tackle, say, Louisville’s Mehki Becton. A small portion would like to find DeForest Buckner’s replacement in the first round as well.
One thing we can all agree on is that having the No. 13 overall pick makes this draft a whole lot more fun than having to wait three hours for the 49ers to trade out of the first round. There will be surprises. There always are. My question to you is, who is one player that would make you complain non-stop if San Francisco drafted him? I asked this question on Twitter Sunday, and the answers were all over the place:
Let’s run that back. Some draft takes that have some heat on them, but they are takes you believe in.

I’ll start. Derrick Brown is not a first-round talent.
If you read other analysts talk about Auburn’s defensive tackle Derrick Brown, you’d think he was an all-world player. All of his comps are high-end. Some even believe he can be Ndamukong Suh at his peak.
I didn’t see it.
I saw a player that flashed every now and then. If you take a defensive tackle in the first round, he better dominate his competition. This is one of the rare cases where the box score adds up with the player. In the three games I watched, Brown wasn’t winning—specifically against the pass. That’s a red flag. So when you see Brown had four sacks, it makes sense. It didn’t seem like he had a plan as a pass rusher.
Brown is 326 pounds, and the likelihood of him giving you 50+ snaps per game are slim. Talking to him with some of my buddies that also watched him, they think his ceiling is Vikings DT Linval Joseph. Even at his peak, Joseph was never a dominant pass rusher. Good player, but not someone you take in the first round.
Who is one player that you wish San Francisco steers clear of in the first round? Your answer doesn’t have to be popular. If you believe it’s Jeudy, let us know and give us a reason why.
