A few weeks ago, reports came out that former San Francisco 49ers pass rusher Aldon Smith was in the process of applying for reinstatement. Jay Glazer reported that the former Pro Bowler is signing a one-year deal with the Dallas Cowboys. Who is the Cowboys defensive line coach? Former Niners head coach Jim Tomsula, who was the defensive line coach during Smith’s tenure with San Francisco. This is a shock, and it almost feels like an April Fools joke.
Mike Garafolo reported that Smith will have a base value of $2 million this season and can earn up to $2 million more in sack incentives during 2020. Holy heavens. Jerry Jones giving Smith more than the league minimum to a player that has been out of the league, is so Jerry Jones.
With everything that Smith has gone through, I hope he gets the full value of his contract. The 49ers travel to Dallas this upcoming season. Thanksgiving day game, anyone?
