San Francisco 49ers star edge rusher Nick Bosa joined Keiana Martin from Fort Lauderdale to discuss his rookie season and the 49ers defensive line. The interview started out as Martin introduced Bosa as “NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year,” and Nick smiles from ear to ear. Bosa said he’s in Florida training with his brother Joey. Because all of the fields and gyms are closed, Bosa said he’s had to find random fields in the area where he can work out.

Bosa said he’s been keeping in touch with the defensive line in their group chat, and was working out with Sheldon Day, Arik Armstead, and DeForest Buckner before everything was shut down. Since then, Bosa jokingly said he’s associated with four people over the past month. Bosa, on how the defensive line can pick up from where they left off last year: Stick with coach Kris and what he’s been teaching us. Can’t go wrong. I feel like we left a lot on the field last year, and we knew that. I think another year of being together, and getting that compatibility playing together. It’s going to be even better this year.

Bosa was asked what he learned from his rookie year:

I learned that the NFL is a lot different than college, and it takes a real special team to get as far as we did. It’s going to take a little extra to get over that hump. I learned how to get through difficult times, and fight through small things that were nagging me throughout the year and persevere through that. I couldn’t be happier with where I ended up, and it was probably one of the most fun years of my life.
