The San Francisco 49ers are favored by Las Vegas sportsbooks to repeat as NFC champions in 2020, but how will their player do individually next season?
FOX Bet released its latest NFL players futures and one 49er is high on the list for a major award.
Second-year defensive lineman Nick Bosa is getting some serious love for the NFL Defensive Player of the Year Award. Bosa is at +1100, behind only Aaron Donald of the Los Angeles Rams, who is the favorite at +750.
I expect Bosa to come back even better in 2020 after taking home the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year last season. The 22-year-old beast finished his inaugural campaign with 47 total tackles and 9.0 sacks. Even though his production could drop with the loss of stalwart DeForest Buckner, this is still great value for any bettor.
On the offensive side of the ball, FOX oddsmakers see quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo’s numbers being relatively the same as last season. Garoppolo finished 2019 with 3,978 yards through the air for 27 touchdowns.
Going into 2020, FOX Bet has set the QB’s over/under for passing yards at 3,925.5, a tiny drop from last season’s totals. The sportsbook also has Garppolo’s total touchdown line at 27.5.
I am leaning towards the over on passing yards and under on total touchdowns. Head coach Kyle Shanahan’s scheme is run-heavy, which limits Jimmy G’s opportunities, especially in the red zone. Another cause for concern for Garoppolo’s 2020 totals is a lack of experienced receivers beyond second-year pro Deebo Samuel.
Jimmy G averaged 219 yards per game before San Francisco acquired veteran Emmanuel Sanders from the Denver Broncos prior to Week 7 of last season. That jumped up to 266.4 with the receiver in the lineup for the last 10 games.
If rookie Brandon Aiyuk is the YAC monster Shanahan sees him as, plus having a healthy Trent Taylor and Jalen Hurd on the field, Garoppolo should be able to put up 250 yards a game, which would get him to 4,000 through a full 16 games.
Another pass catcher who will be key to Garoppolo’s success is tight end George Kittle, who led the team in reception yards last season. Despite missing two games in 2019, the 26-year-old put up 1,053 yards.
FOX Bet’s 2020 total for Kittle seems a little low, coming in at 1,075.5 yards, so give me the over with -110 odds (bet $110 to win 100).
Some of the other 49ers who made FOX Bet’s board include:
Aiyuk, who is at +3800 to win the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year Award.
Linebacker Kwon Alexander (+6,000), and left tackle Trent Williams (+10,000) both appear on the NFL’s Comeback Player of the Year odds.
Meanwhile, running backs Raheem Mostert and Tevin Coleman are not on FOX Bet’s total rushing yards board yet.
Which odds involving a 49er do you think is the best bet?
