49ers assign jersey numbers to 10 undrafted free agents

The San Francisco 49ers officially released their jersey numbers for their ten undrafted free agents, per NBC Sports Matt Maiocco:

5 – QB Broc Rutter

7 – WR Chris Finke

35 – RB Salvon Ahmed

38 – JaMycal Hasty

43 – S Jared Mayden

47 – LB Jonas Griffith

49 – CB DeMarkus Acy

49 – FB Josh Hokit

65 – DL Darrion Daniels

83 – TE Chase Harrell

Finke wearing a single-digit number is as aesthetically pleasing as it gets. This argument will get me nowhere, but a player should be able to wear whichever number he pleases.

Hokit and Acy wearing the same number are common around this time of year. With 90 jerseys to handout and teams having jersey numbers retired, this was predictable that two players would share the same number on each side of the ball.

Harrell wearing No. 83 means he’ll be a tight end and not an edge rusher.

I don’t know about you, but, save Uncle Rog, a running back wearing a number in the 30s never sat right with me. The same as a defensive back wearing a number in the 40s.
