The San Francisco 49ers announced head coach Kyle Shanahan signed a new six-year contract extension that is scheduled to keep him in the Bay Area through at least the 2025 season.
Shanahan is 23-25 since taking over prior to the 2017 season, and with the talent the Niners have on their roster, his record should look much improved after a few more years.
Most of the online reaction has been positive. Although Twitter can be a cesspool, let’s check out some of the reaction to Shanny’s new deal from around the football world:

Of course it was ESPN’s Adam Schefter breaking the news:
San Francisco is rewarding head coach Kyle Shanahan with a new six-year contract that replaces the three years he had remaining on his deal and ties him to the 49ers through the 2025 season, league sources tell ESPN.

ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky is a fan of the move:

Kyle Shanahan will win multiple Super Bowls. Book it. Tag it. Don’t care. The statue will have the SnapBack on it.

Get ready for some posts on the Mike Nolan, Mike Singletary, Jim Tomsula and Chip Kelly eras! Everyone was thrilled with revisiting Erickson’s time!
Kyle Shanahan is first #49ers head coach to sign extension since Steve Mariucci 20 years ago.

Kyle moves like a ninja:
Talk about keeping things under wraps: Hearing that Kyle Shanahan's new deal was hashed out nearly two months ago. Shanahan does not have an agent, which might explain the lack o' leak. #49ers.

For the first time since Steve Mariucci more than 20 years ago, the #49ers have signed a head coach beyond his original contract. What it means that Kyle Shanahan was extended in a deal announced today, and GM John Lynch was not.https://t.co/81OKeDVhgD

Has Jed York finally learned his lesson?
One of the biggest issues in the York era has been the carousel of inept head coaches (minus Harbaugh).

By extending Kyle Shanahan, they ensure continuity for the foreseeable future with one of the best offensive minds in the game. Great sign for the future of the #49ers
How far we have come!
These two tweets from @AdamSchefter are pretty much exactly five years apart, and tell you everything you need to know about the #49ers turnaround under Kyle Shanahan. #49wz
