While nobody knows exactly whether or not there will be a 2020 season, we know that the NFL is putting as many protocols in place to prevent players from catching COVID-19. Heading into last weekend, we saw some U.S. states decrease in COVID cases, like Pennsylvania. On the other hand, Texas saw numbers spike, and even the Cowboys and Texans had players reportedly catch the virus.
Nobody is doubting that the NFL is doing their hardest to get the regular-season off the ground. The growing concern is that the season may be paused, postponed, and possibly canceled at some point. Hopefully, that’s not the case; it’s just difficult to imagine there being zero interruptions over six months of football.
On Tuesday morning, Dr. Anthony Fauci said a COVID-19 vaccine could be ready by the end of this year or early 2021, stating it’s a matter of “when and not if.” On Tuesday, cases in Arizona, California, Nevada, while Texas set a single-day record for cases. Fauci said, “Plan A, don’t go into a crowd.” If we see restricted put back into place by the government, that will certainly have an impact on when the season kicks off.
