With the NFL season two weeks away, we realize that many of you are clamoring to hear us talk about the 49ers. However, given the unprecedented steps taken by the Milwaukee Bucks and the NBA on Wednesday night, we didn’t feel like it would be right to discuss how the 49ers did in practice on today’s podcast.
Instead, Levin and I tried to look at the situation from the NFL and the 49ers’ perspective. What will the repercussions of this protest be for a league that has historically not welcomed players expressing themselves? What would happen if players refused to take the field for week one?
On the four year anniversary of Colin Kaepernick’s protest, do the 49ers need to actually embrace him more than they have in the past?
There will be plenty of time to talk about the 49ers specifically during future podcasts, but the eyes of the world were on the NBA last night and to ignore just didn’t feel right.
