Injury update: Dee Ford misses practice with a neck injury

Ahkello Witherspoon returned to practice in a non-contact jersey. Still no Kittle at practice

The San Francisco 49ers returned to the practice field Richie James (hamstring), George Kittle (knee), and Jason Verrett (hamstring) were not on-hand to start practice. Richard Sherman, who was placed on the injured reserve on Wednesday, was not on hand, either. Ahkello Witherspoon returned as he cleared the concussion protocol, but he was wearing a blue non-contact jersey. That’s good news and would signal Witherspoon would suit up Sunday against the New York Jets. Ben Garland and Bradon Aiyuk were also limited participants.

The beat reporters who were at Thursday’s practice tweeted that Dee Ford wasn’t present. Ford has a neck injury, but Robert Saleh didn’t give any details on the injury and said he’s “not overly concerned.” All righty then. Hopefully, Ford suits up on Sunday. The 49ers can’t afford another injury, especially along the defensive line.

WR Richie James (hamstring)

TE George Kittle (knee)
