There weren’t too many injury updates from San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan as he met with the media before Wednesday’s practice. Shanahan isn’t sure whether or not the team will have center Ben Garland back from injury. Shanahan discussed that the team hasn’t been able to have a true competition at right guard as Daniel Brunskill has bounced back and forth from center to right guard. When asked which position Brunskill has played more, Kyle said, “it depends on the day.” We should know more next week regarding Garland’s injury, as Wednesday will be the season’s first official injury report.
Shanahan said the team is still taking care of George Kittle, though he may do a little bit in practice on Wednesday.
Shanahan said he isn’t concerned with either Nick Bosa or Dee Ford’s injury and believes they’ll be fine for Week 1. “I’d be surprised if they’re not ready to go,” Shanahan said. Additionally, he expects wide receivers Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk to practice next week. That’d be the first time that both projected starting receivers will be on the field together. While they’re expected to practice, there are no guarantees either would participate in team drills. I’d expect the 49ers to be extra cautious with Deebo as you don’t want to rush him back from a Jones fracture.
