49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo, Raheem Mostert ruled OUT for second half against Jets

This is getting ridiculous.

The San Francisco 49ers’ luck with injuries is horrible. After playing a nearly flawless first half against the New York Jets, quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo is ruled OUT with an ankle injury. Garoppolo took a ton of hits over the first two quarters and was noticeably limping throughout the game.

Garoppolo went 14-for-16 for 131 yards and two touchdowns before leaving the game. He was decisive and looked much more comfortable than he did during the Week 1 loss to the Arizona Cardinals. Nick Mullens has taken over at quarterback.

To make matters worse for the Niners, running back Raheem Mostert is also out after suffering a knee injury. Mostert ran for an 80-yard touchdown on the game’s opening play to give San Francisco the early lead.

This game has decimated the 49ers. Defensive lineman Nick Bosa and Solomon Thomas were carted off the field in the first half with knee injuries. Bosa’s injury seems to be the more serious of the two, and it would be a massive blow to the Niners’ defense.

San Francisco is already without All-Pros Richard Sherman and George Kittle, while pass rushing specialist Dee Ford is also sidelined with a neck injury.

We will find out more about the severity of the injuries when head coach Kyle Shanahan speaks to the media after the game.
