49ers vs. Giants inactives: CB Ahkello Witherspoon is OUT for today’s game

The only question today was whether cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon would be active. Witherspoon injured his hamstring during practice late in the week. If ‘Spoon isn’t 100%, that opens the door for Jason Verrett to start and would mean Dontae Johnson would be the next cornerback off the bench. I’d be curious to see if defensive coordinator Robert Saleh would play K’Waun Williams on the perimeter if it came down to it. With the team announcing Witherspoon is inactive, we’ll find out how those rotations go.
