San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan spoke to the media to provide a few injury updates on Monday. Shanahan said that tight end Jordan Reed has a knee sprain and would go on the short-term injured reserve. Once Reed returned to the game on Sunday, he sustained an MCL injury. Shanahan said Reed’s timetable to return is between six to eight weeks.

Jimmy Garoppolo (ankle), George Kittle (knee), and Raheem Mostert (knee) will all be evaluated during Wednesday’s practice. Shanahan also mentioned that K’Waun Williams had hip discomfort, so he’ll be evaluated as well.

Shanahan said that linebacker Mark Nzeochoa injured his quad and is likely headed for the short-term injured reserve. He added that the team would decide whether to place Dee Ford, who has a knee and a neck injury, would go on the injured reserve over the next couple of days. The 49ers don’t expect to have Dre Greenlaw, who is battling a thigh contusion, next Sunday against the Eagles, either.

Deebo Samuel will practice on Wednesday. Shanahan said Samuel’s made a lot of progress during the past two weeks, and Deebo is pumped to practice and play but cautioned that it’d be the first time since February, so the 49ers will be cautious and make sure Samuel is in playing shape before he sees the field.

Shanahan said he talked with Kyle Nelson, who struggled on seemingly each of his snaps Sunday against the Giants, and the team will bring in long snappers on Tuesday and figure out what to do at the position moving forward. Kyle said that Nelson apologized to him and Shanahan said, “thankfully, it didn’t cost us.” That doesn’t sound like a player who will be around much longer.

Shanahan is unsure whether Garoppolo would suit up this Sunday. He said that Jimmy G looked better than he did at this point last week, but he’ll assess the injury as the week goes on.

Cornerback Emmanuel Moseley is in the concussion protocol.
