Once you’ve been eliminated from playoff contention, it’s the challenge of every coach to get his players hyped up for the game on Sunday, and it’s the challenge of every player to find the little motivations that will get the competitive juices flowing one more time. In the case of the 49ers defense this Sunday, that shouldn’t be too hard.

Given how beloved Saleh is by his defensive players, there is no doubt that they are going to be ready to rock and roll when they get out there on Sunday. Fred Warner and company are going to want to send their coach out with a bang, and what better way to do that than by smothering a division rival with something to play for?
