Robert Saleh to interview with the Falcons as soon as Monday, per Jay Glazer

The coaching interviews for Robert Saleh should come in bunches. Fox Sports Jay Glazer reported Sunday morning that the San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator could have an interview as soon as Monday with the Atlanta Falcons.

Other jobs expected to come open are the Jets, Chargers, Texans, Jaguars, and the Lions job available. Saleh will have his options, and after what he did in 2020, he deserves it. One spin that I’m interested in is if Saleh takes a job at one of these places, and they’re picking higher than San Francisco in the draft if that becomes a potential trade destination for the Niners—especially if Saleh takes Adam Peters or another one of San Francisco’s personnel men.

The Falcons are currently selecting fourth and play Tampa Bay on Sunday. That’s a potential team the 49ers could trade within the upcoming NFL Draft. The Lions are selecting No. 7, and if they choose to roll with Matt Stafford, San Francisco could trade up for a quarterback if Saleh takes that job. That’s just me thinking out loud.

Another benefit is that if Saleh is hired, the 49ers will receive a third-round compensatory draft pick for the next two seasons. Those picks can be traded, giving the 49ers more ammo. The Niners are then without their third-round pick this season as they used that pick to acquire Trent Williams. The team got great value in that deal, and I’d do that trade ten out of ten times.

Where would you like to see Saleh next year?
