It looks like 2021 could be on pace to be a better year for the 49ers than the one that came before it. Once again, John Lynch was named a finalist for the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Later this month, he will have a chance to be one of the five members selected for enshrinement into football immortality.
Election is not a certainty by any means. This year’s ballot contains both players that have been waiting their turn for multiple years as well as impressive first-timers like Peyton Manning, Charles Woodson, and Jared Allen. But with multiple Pro Bowl and All-Pro selections, as well as a Super Bowl ring on one of the best defenses of all-time, Lynch’s case is right up there with anyone.
Unfortunately, former 49ers Patrick Willis and Bryant Young will have to wait another year as they didn’t make the final cut down to 15 this year.
