What would you be willing to give up to acquire Deshaun Watson?

Is anyone on this roster untouchable?

Nothing helps heal the wounds of a lost season faster than a juicy quarterback rumor. I know I’m certainly grateful to the Texans for alienating their best player and fueling the fantasies of just about every other fan base in the in NFL. And yes, for all your wet blankets, it probably won’t happen - but what if it did?

What would it take to acquire a top tier quarterback fresh off a passing yardage title and a brand new contract in his age 25 season? Kyle Posey and I dove into that and more in today’s Niners Nation Podcast. Kyle wasn’t shy when it came to what he’d be willing to give up.

“They don’t have a first or a second round pick this year so that’s theirs, and we already know that. I’m going to give them that. I’m going to probably give them next year’s first as well and probably next year’s second. Then, hey, you can have anybody but Brandon Aiyuk and Nick Bosa. If that’s what gets it done, that’s what I’m going to do.”

That would be a hefty price, for sure, but that’s what it’s going to take to get a top-five quarterback in the league that is just now going into his prime. I noticed that KP did not exclude George Kittle or Fred Warner from that deal. If you want to hear why, check out the rest of today’s show in the player below.

Other topics discussed in the episode:

-Fred Warner earns his first All-Pro selection, but why not Trent Williams?

-Does Kyle Shanahan think he needs an elite quarterback?

-How well does Watson fit into the 49ers’ system?
