Jimmy Garoppolo back at 49ers practice; Trey Lance unlikely to play

“Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo believes he will be near 100 percent when the 49ers return to action Sunday night to face the Indianapolis Coltsat Levi’s Stadium.

The outlook does not look as promising for rookie quarterback Trey Lance, whom coach Kyle Shanahan said is not likely to be available to serve as the team’s backup.”

The 49ers tried to lowball DeForest Buckner, and lost

“On Wednesday, Bucker stated that prior to the trade he met with 49ers general manager John Lynch and told him he would be willing to take less money than what his agent felt he was worth. “Someway, some how, I want to be here, but I didn’t want to take too big of a pay cut because I know what I am actually worth,” said Buckner.”

49ers practice report: Trent Williams sits out, two starters return

“While a couple starters returned to action after the week off, a handful of key players sat out Wednesday’s practice as San Francisco gears up to face the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday Night Football.”

Javon Kinlaw’s lingering knee injury is ‘a big concern’ for 49ers

‘“It’s a big concern this year,” Shanahan said on Wednesday. “It’s nothing against him, but it’s been unfortunate. His development is on hold. I was real excited how he started to end last year, especially at Dallas — it was one of his best. The Rams game I thought he was starting to turn into that player.”’

While 49ers QB Trey Lance misses practice, Jimmy Garoppolo says sore calf ‘feels great’

“The whole year has been managing (the injury) and that’s why I know he’s been frustrated,” he said. “Because no one’s upset with Kinlaw right now. It’s been unfortunate with what happened and the setbacks of some of the surgeries. … So we’ve had to really manage him throughout training camp, throughout the season hoping that would get it better. And it just hasn’t so far.”

That Shanahan referenced surgeries — plural — is significant.
