We’ve reached the seventh Sunday of the NFL regular season. So let’s run through a 49ers-focused rooting guide for the Week 7 games. Of course, it’s still early to think about the playoffs, but every week and loss matters.
First things first, and that’s San Francisco taking care of business Sunday night.
49ers game
The Colts are shorthanded as they’ll miss two starting wide receivers and their left tackle. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem as though Trent Williams will be active to protect Jimmy Garoppolo’s blindside. The weather will make this an ugly one, but that favors the 49ers. Root for the Niners, of course.
NFC West
Lions @ Rams: The 49ers won’t get much help this weekend as two of the largest spreads are in the NFC West. Los Angeles is favored by 16.5 points. It would take a minor miracle for Jared Goff to return home and beat his old team.
Texans @ Cardinals: Davis Mills versus Kyler Murray. If it took a minor miracle for Detroit, Houston would need to walk on water to win today. San Francisco is unlikely to make up any ground on its division leaders.
Saints @ Seahawks: New Orleans is getting healthier while Seattle is tending in the opposite direction. Despite being at home, Geno Smith and company are 4.5-point underdogs. Seattle could fall to 2-5 after Monday night.
Wild card spot
Washington @ Green Bay: The Packers are 5-1 and figure to run away with the NFC North. Washington is 2-4 and is a team that could make a move for a quarterback at the trade deadline. We want them to rack up as many early losses as they can before Washington potentially gets better under center. Root for the Packers.
The 3-3 Panthers are 3-point road favorites against the 1-5 New York Giants. I don’t see Carolina sustaining success throughout the season, but they’re talented enough to hang around, especially with a weaker schedule. Root for the Giants.
An Atlanta loss today could turn them into sellers at the trade deadline. Root for the Dolphins.
The 2-4 Eagles are on the road to face the Raiders. Philly has been competitive this season but unable to finish games consistently. This one is easy as one team is in the NFC and the other is not. Root for the Raiders.
Bears @ Bucs: Chicago is 3-3 while Tampa Bay is 5-1. The Bucs feel like locks to win the NFC South. But, a loss this week and next week, and all of a sudden, Chicago is 3-5 and on the outside looking in. Root for Tampa Bay.
