49ers open up as 3-point favorites over the Bears for Week 8

After a humiliating loss to the Colts, the 49ers left themselves quite the uphill battle if they wanted to make the playoffs. The “P” word will be off-limits until San Francisco breaks their four-game losing streak.

The Niners travel to Chicago in Week 8 to face a Bears squad that played worse than them in Week 7. Tampa Bay, with several starters missing, went up against Chicago 35-3 at halftime. It was a drubbing. Justin Fields threw three interceptions and took four sacks with a 1.9 quarterback rating. The Bears ran for 100 yards, but they allowed Tampa Bay to do whatever they wanted to on offense.

It probably says more about the Bears that the 49ers are three-point favorites at DraftKing sportsbook for next Sunday morning’s game. The total on the game is 40, which means Vegas is expecting a game in the ballpark of 21-20.

That is the lowest total for all Week 8 games and 3.5 points lower than the Bengals/Jets(backup quarterback) and Jaguars/Seahawks, and two points lower than the Steelers/Browns.

Is the total so low knowing that Trey Lance could start if he’s healthy? Or is this Vegas telling us these are two offenses that can’t score no matter who is under center? Both could be true.
